Thrilled for Glenbrook Kroon (owned by Sarah Tingey) who took the win the BE100 at Broadway on 14th October.
This lovely 6 year old has been placed every time out this season, bar one run at West Wilts when a green stop cross country resulted in 20 penalties. This horse has always had a really good Dressage and was always inside the time but did occasionally have a silly pole in the showjumping.
We’ve had a relatively quiet Summer and preparation for the event didn’t quite go as smoothly as we would have liked! We did the Unaffiliated ODE at Swalcliffe a couple of weeks before Broadway and after shooting into the lead with a super Dressage score of 21, we were then eliminated at fence 3 in the showjumping! It was very wet and he just doesn’t like the mud!
During the week in the run up to Broadway, we did some small jumping exercises at home just to get his confidence back up. Much to our joy, the ground at Broadway was perfect! He did a really lovely test for 24 and then jumped double clear, adding just 0.8 time penalties to take the win! The course at Broadway is lovely, it’s not overly technical but is to height and they do make good use of the undulating ground. There’s one rolltop on the course which is set at the top of a steep bank so it looks like the horse is jumping into space! It’s very clever how they use the terrain, I always enjoy it there! Had a really good run with 4 horses there at the beginning of the season, already looking forward to visiting next year!
