Chatsworth International Horse Trials didn't finish like we hoped.
Riot was jumping a super round in the testing xc course until 3 fences from the end when cantering through very heavy ground struggled to cover a very big table and had a bad fall.
He felt fresh all the way and answered all the big and difficult questions with ease and I'm incredibly proud of him.
He has a massive heart and keeps showing everyone what an amazing horse he is.
Only 42 horses out of the 160 starters finished the 4* and I feel that this should make the Organisers think about the decisions they have made...
This year the weather has been extraordinary and I know how difficult it is to run events but I really didn't like the fact that they decided to move the sj and the xc of the Nations Cup to Saturday because they had to give something to watch to the big number of spectators that had bought tickets.
If there were other reasons behind the decision I'd be very happy to hear them!
Anyway...I'm very happy to say that Riot seems to be happy and healthy but unfortunately I can't say the same about myself.
I have a bad fracture in the collarbone that requires an operation and the NHS is going to make me wait weeks for it to be done.
I'm trying to speak to specialist doctors to see if I can get something sorted soon as I've got lots of crucial events coming up in the next few months so hopefully it won't take too long to be fixed!
In the meantime I'd like to thank Riot's owner Alice Dazeley for her continuous help and support (sorry for the scary moment ??), Roberto Scalisi for driving my lorry back, the Italia Team vet Marco Eleuteri for looking after the horse whilst I was passing out in the doctors tent and to my parents that had their lovely weekend ruined and have had to drive me to 2 different hospital to get xrays done.
Accidents like this happen, they are part of the sport that I love and I'm grateful that both Riot and me will be OK and we will be back fighting another day!
Stay safe everyone
